Jeff “Gordoon” Gordon created
the routine while touring with the Big Apple Circus.
It was included in the PBS TV special “Pops Goes the Circus.”
In his original routine, Jeff is cleaning up clutter that was left in the
ring. He gets out a leaf blower to
do it more efficiently, and begins to playfully blow things into the air.
When he gets out a roll of toilet paper he joyfully creates various
shapes as he keeps the paper in the air.
Finally he lets the paper settle around his shoulders and poses in happy
satisfaction. It is a lovely,
charming routine motivated by an endearing character that enchants the audience.
There is a strong emotional connection between Gordoon and the audience.
Unfortunately it has been copied by many
clowns without the charm of the original.
